The Wedding Photography took place at The Oaklands Hotel in Norwich, Norfolk on Saturday 21st November.
By Emma's very own admission, they were two people who really didn't like having their photographs taken! I LOVE these kinds of clients, I get to show off not just my photography skills but also my calming influences to prove to them that they're going to actually enjoy having their pics taken. And that's just what happened, I've just had this lovely message from Emma...... " Hi how are you? I keep meaning to send you a message to thank you for your work on our wedding day. The pictures you printed for us on the day are lovely, we're very excited to see some more. For two people who don't like having their photo taken you made us feel very at ease!". It was cold, raining, snowing, hailing but the elements did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of Emma and Adam, or indeed their guests. After the ceremony, we all left the warmth of inside to brave the weather outside when the group pics were done, along with some great shots of my bride and groom. They were completely up for doing some pretty "out there" stuff too, both inside the venue and outside (complete with umbrella), and in the dark! You get one chance at getting the shots you want on your wedding day, these guys were totally in the zone and trusted me to get some unusual shots I just know they'll love. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart, enjoy your sneaky peaks! Big Love x p.s. A big thank you to the newly renovated Oaklands Hotel and the team there for their hospitality on the day. http://www.oaklands-hotel.co.uk/

The photography took place in Norwich, Norfolk. It was a special occasion for Tracey, the photo shoot marked an important birthday - she wouldn't tell me which one but I think it started with a five and ended with a zero?!?
The day itself was fairly flat as far as lighting went so I took some extra equipment along and did some off-camera flash work, with a huge softbox. They donned their finest cloth and prepared for the walk through the woodland which Tracey had suggested and these are the results of the professional photography and superb dress sense! Two of the kindest and most genuine people you could meet, we definitely had a giggle along the way though for sure! For example, the quote of the day has to be: "Ryan, would you mind taking me from behind please? I'd really like that......." After quite a long tumbleweed moment had passed, the request was clarified - Please see the images 12 and 14 for what Tracey was ACTUALLY referring to! A huge thank you to you both, I hope you LOVE your images. Oh and Happy *0th Birthday Tracey! Big Love xx You know you're doing something right when you're asked back by a client to photograph their other son, Dexter. I photographed his big brother Wilson a few years back at the same age and so now it's little Dexter's turn, it was time to get the camera out and head to Earlham Park here in Norfolk for some summer sun and giggles.
Just like his big bro, Dexter is a determined little fella, there was no doubt who was in control during this photo shoot, ha ha! Some children are easily guided in terms of what makes a good photo and they will take your lead, others you have to just let them do their thing, Dexter definitely falls into the latter category so I just let him get on with doing whatever he wanted to do and snapped away. He was so happy doing what he was doing, there was no need to intervene - this approach made for some fantastic photo opportunities as you can see. Such a strong personality, with Mummy's help he was a little star on the day. We had great fun too, I made a deal with Dexter that if he went in the river for a paddle, I would too! Me and my big mouth....... Before I'd even finished the sentence, our shoes were off and we were both in the water (me clutching my £2.5k worth of camera equipment very tightly!), sometimes you just gotta get in the zone, right? Thank you for a great afternoon Dexter (and Mummy!) Big Love x When I met up at Lenwade House with Terry and Laura for a look around, they brought their lovely little daughter Holly too, who was nearly 4 years old. We all walked by the river at Lenwade House to get some ideas together for their wedding photography during which Holly and I had a competition to find as many rolled up woodlouse as we could on the riverbank - I think Holly won (or so she claimed!) but I'm not 100% sure it was fair and square, haha! Laura, Terry and I came across a beautiful willow tree there and threw some ideas around as to how we could use it on the day.
The big day arrived and it brought a little light rain too. That said, the heavy cloud cast a shadow over whether the ceremony was going to take place outside as planned...... Both Laura and Terry were so chilled but none the less so excited to see each other to exchange vows. The ceremony did indeed take place outside after much deliberation and they were both so glad it did - the sun (mainly) shone throughout the ceremony, it was a lovely setting, next to the river which runs through the venue grounds. I have very special clients indeed, and Laura and Terry were no exception. They were a joy to work with, along with their friends and family. They loved their photographs and have opted to present their images in a beautiful hand made Graphistudio wedding album, all the way from Italy. It has already been designed and is on it's way through the postal system as we speak. They are the best in the world at what they do, their wedding albums are truly amazing. Superb choice guys..... Thank you for choosing me to cover your wedding, I'm glad you loved the results. A big thank you to the team at Lenwade House for your hospitality and help on the day. Lenwade House website: http://www.lenwadehouse.co.uk/ Big Love x Well I did promise some images regarding the lovely email I received from Nicola and Steve (a little further down the page), so here they are.....
Nicola and Steve were lucky enough to get married abroad - It looks as if they had good weather by the looks of the girl's tans aswell! Their celebration took place at Weston Park in Lenwade, Norfolk for the their family and friends who were unable to make the wedding itself. The whole bridal party put on their dresses and suits so that they could be seen in all their splendor once again. The bridesmaids helped Nicola into the dress (with the odd sip of Prosecco here and there!), she looked amazing as I bet she did on the day. I still got the same fuzzy feeling of anticipation when the girls were getting ready, it was great to see Steve there with his Dad, getting ready using the Range Rover windows outside as a mirror to do their cravats up! I think every mirror at Weston Park was taken over by the girls! I had a truly amazing time with Nicola and Steve and their guests, I happily stayed later than planned to capture some "off camera flash" images in the grounds as the night drew in. I asked them if they were up for something a little different and they agreed, hopefully the images stand up for themselves. Thank you Nicola and Steve for allowing me to spend a wonderful evening with you and your guests. Oh, and that bridesmaid who didn't stop smiling the WHOLE time...... Big Love x I was understandably very excited when I was commissioned to cover David and Marie's wedding at The Boathouse in Ormesby, Norfolk. I'd last visited there many years ago before the total transformation which has taken place in recent times. David and Marie were the PERFECT clients to make use of the amazing venue and it's surroundings.......
Bridal prep took place on site, I got some great shots of the cheeky flower girls, bridesmaids and Marie whilst the preparations were taking place. You'll see that I got a great shot of Mum having her hair done, I'm sure she'll be over the moon with that one, haha! (Sorry Mum, couldn't resist!). Marie received a surprise package from David just before getting the dress on....... Nothing less than a pair of Jimmy Choo heels!! The look on Marie's face was priceless and I think they heard the shriek in Suffolk as she opened the box! Dad's face was an absolute picture when he saw his beautiful daughter in her dress for the first time, who then had the pleasure in walking her down the aisle, though not before them having a special Father and Daughter "moment" together on the boardwalk from where they had arrived on the boat. An amazingly hot day, loads of sunshine and a superb couple to work with enabled me to get some great shots throughout the day and on into the evening, telling the story of their fantastic wedding and what a great day they and their guests clearly had. This was a couple that literally danced their way back down the aisle (wasn't for a second expecting THAT!), totally in love and "in the zone". I hope you love your pics as much as I loved covering your wedding guys. Thank you. Big Love x I'm sorry guys, I'll be blogging some pics asap (when I get a minute from all this editing!) but I felt I HAD to blog this short but sweet email I just received from a wedding client.........
"Hi Ryan I know it's a little late but we just wanted to say thank you again for Saturday the 11th. Your service was perfect and we have had so many good comments about you from our family and friends. Looking forward to seeing the final product :) Regards Nicola and Steve" Warms the soul! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your kind words guys, it truly means the world. Big Love x WOW!!! Looks like a booking for 2016 at this stunning venue in Hampshire, Surrey! Seriously cannot wait! What do you think?
http://www.froylepark.co.uk/ Brasted's in Framingham Pigot was the venue for Daniel and Sharon's wedding. Michael and his team there were up to their usual amazing standards as hosts to the lucky couple. I was able to cover the bridal preparations which took place at home before meeting Sharon at the venue where the the girls arrived in style. A beautiful (and emotional) service started with the bride walking down the aisle with her Dad, who then gave her hand to Daniel - tears of joy ensued from Sharon who, it was obvious, had been waiting for this moment all her life. Ok, so Daniel may have had slightly watery eyes at one point too but I won't mention that.....
The group shots were done immediately after the ceremony, the three of us then disappeared off together for a little while to catch some more romantic moments in the amazing grounds of Brasted's. We got back in good time for the wedding breakfast (which was nothing short of outstanding!) and of course the speeches, where some photos of the day were handed out to parents, courtesy of myself, which I had been printed out during the meal - a laptop and mouse in one hand and a fork in the other, just in time for the speeches. We then disappeared outside again to get some night time shots, using off-camera flash. Daniel and Sharon were only too happy to have some more pics done, adding another dimension to their images that were to be chosen for their album. It was a pleasure to work with you both, and of course your family and friends. I'm glad you love your photo's, we sure had a giggle along the way too! Your album has just arrived from Italy, I can't wait for you to see it guys. Big love x P.S. These images have been edited and post-processed in a slightly "vintage" style for this blog. I really love the results, do you? x Great to catch up with some blogs I'd always meant to post but time restraints said otherwise!
This lovely couple came to mind after I've been invited to take some pics of their imminent arrival a little later in the year. I was recommended to Abby and Jamie after I did some photography for Jamie's sister, it was great to catch up with them at the wedding. Thank you for the recommendation guys! x The day started with Bridal preparation at Mum and Dad's (where I was privileged enough to be show Dad's beautiful old Lambretta in the garage!) Their wedding and evening reception took place at the amazing Southwood Hall in Norfolk, which is an absolute dream for any photographer! The wedding guests fell silent as Abby walked down the aisle with her immensely proud Dad, emotions ran high for everybody which set the scene for a perfect ceremony. After the ceremony we got the group shots completed, then myself together with Abby and Jamie disappeared off for a little while and got some great shots. Enjoying some "time out" with each other, they were perfectly at ease and needed very very little direction from me for the photographs, it seemed to come naturally for them as I snapped away. Thank you for letting me be part of your special day and I very much look forward in catching up with you very soon for more photos, albeit of a slightly different style! Big Love x I didn't upload these at the time due to workload but I think you'll agree, they certainly deserve a quick blog!
I shot Marie and Billy's wedding a few years back, and once again I appear to have become the "family photographer". It warms the soul to think I've been invited back into these people's lives at such monumental times, thank you guys. A couple of out-takes in there too; Billy helping out and some of Billy just being Billy! Haha! Big Love x Great to catch up with some old work colleagues last week! It seems a lot has happened since we last spoke. There were 2, now there are 3! Meet young Casey.......
At just 9 months old, Casey was an absolute star and a joy to work with. With a little help from Mummy (chief face puller) and Daddy (senior dribble monitor) Casey pulled out all the stops and smiled virtually the whole way through and was keen to show us his many stances he's learned already (sitting up, waving, doing the crab, clapping) we got some great pics on the day. The images were uploaded shortly after for Mummy and Daddy (and probably Nanna and Grandad too I suspect!) to choose from, a couple of days later I received the best text message ever to say that rather than choose between them, they'd love to have them all! Yes, all 107!! A total honour and a true pleasure to photograph you little man, thank you. Big thanks also to Mummy and Daddy, Hannah and Gary. Big love xx I did promise a little bit of everything on this blog, both business AND personal.....
Today was the birthday celebration of Millie, the daughter of some good friends of ours. She is now the grand old age of 6 and I was lucky enough to be invited to her birthday party at Pizza Hut, Longwater today. Each of the kiddies were encouraged to "design" their own pizza with fresh ingredients laid out and once completed, they were put in the oven ready for eating a few minutes later. The pizza "designs" varied hugely, one had pretty much all sweetcorn, another had 3 or 4 layers of EVERYTHING, another had literally nothing on at all - you get the picture right? Lashings of ice-cream, approx. 4 tonnes of sweets were consumed by the little cherubs for dessert. Come to think of it they're probably still bouncing off the ceilings even now, bless their little hearts! Although not on official duty, I just happened to have my camera with me so I thought I'd snap away....... Big Love x Ok, I'll admit it. When I met my clients for their consultation and they said they were getting married at 3pm, December 23rd my heart kinda sank......
My thought process was this: "Where do we get the light from exactly, you know, to take the photos, after the wedding etc....?". That was one challenge. The next challenge was even more interesting...... "We're getting married by candlelight too!". I'm not ashamed to say that my heart sank again - any photographer would tell you exactly the same if they're honest, you see light is needed to take professional quality images (especially within churches) when flash is either not allowed or at the very least frowned upon, certainly during the ceremony. They looked through my sample Graphistudio albums over a coffee, looking and admiring the many summer weddings within, people laughing and enjoying themselves in the summer sun, having a Pimms on the grass, children playing outdoor games etc. Anyway, we agreed a package and signed the paperwork. It was then up to me to worry about what I would be presented with on the day, in the fast fading light...... I have never been so wrong in my expectations before. I arrived at the church early to check it out and I was blown away, the candles were out and there were MANY! The place looked like a winter wonderland and I felt privileged to see the church in all it's glory, a couple of days before Christmas day. It was truly beautiful. I was sooooo glad to be part of it and to be able to cover the wedding for them, far away from the usual bright sunny days that us Wedding Togs become accustomed to, and indeed sometimes pray for. There were a few group shots taken once we were back at Brasteds in Framingham Pigot, but I was mainly able to snap away freely whilst there. The usual amazing hospitality was forthcoming by Michael and his team at Brasted's, the food is never short of outstanding and their welcome even more so. Big thanks to him and the team! Check out: http://www.brasteds.co.uk/weddings.html for more information. Helen and Neil were thrilled with their images and if I'm honest, so was I. I didn't have anything like it in my portfolio yet, but I do now! With their generous permission, here are a selection of their images (note the one of Neil handing his lovely Mum the photos which I had printed for her during the meal, ready for the speeches) . Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your big day, it was an honour and a privilege. Big love x Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up again with some existing wedding clients of mine. They wanted a family portrait done to mark their Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary. The day started off raining and cloudy, the shoot was nearly called off but as if by magic we then got beautiful sunshine (ok, on and off but nevertheless....) so we carried on and these are a little taster of what we got. Nice to see you all again guys and thank you for your hospitality on the day. Glad you love the pics. Big Love! x
A beautifully simple ceremony which took place at Churchman House in Norwich. Gary and Aleshia were totally "in the zone" when they made their vows and declared their love for each other. A heart warming story about how they met, a true fairlytale, they were made for one another. Thank you for allowing me to share your special day with you and your family and friends. Big love x
Can't wait to see the team again at Southwood Hall, Norwich, on Saturday for the wedding of Abby and Jamie. An amazing venue and such a lovely couple, this is going to be great! See you soon guys! x
A recent (ish) pre wedding / engagement shoot I did for some of the nicest people on the planet! Tammy and Andrew had a seaside/nautical theme for their wedding so wanted some pics done at Cromer in Norfolk on what could only be described as a freezing cold day! I thought that they were crazy, stripping to their shorts and t-shirt whilst I was wrapped up in ultra warm puffa jacket and wool hat (yes, it really WAS that cold!) but they endured the freezing cold temperatures for their pics, we had one chance at them and their persistence paid off. They were thrilled with their images and used them on their invitations and thank you cards. A BIG thank you to you both for allowing me to play a part in your big day. Big love xx
Wow! Ok, first Blog! This was a shoot I did recently in Norwich of beautiful little Sheridan who was all of 2 weeks old. Ok, we had a few wee's and a couple o'poops along the way but she was nothing short of a little star, she really was soooooo good (and just a little bit cute too.....!). Mummy and Daddy were on hand to help out when needed, it was a lovely experience. They were thrilled with the results, they've now booked up for a 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 12 month photo shoot with me - another happy customer!
