Photography Training - Camera Basics
New Camera for Christmas? No idea how it all works but want to know more? Had a camera for years but never dared take it of automatic because you're just not sure what all those buttons do? What's the "M" for, what does "AV" even mean? What's f2.8 all about? ISO? Does "P" mean professional?
The last 25 years in photography have been awesome and to be able pass on the knowledge that I have gained along the way is amazing, I love teaching people about what I've learned and working with those who are keen to learn and have a genuine interest in photography. Learning will generally be at a basic to intermediate level, although if you have a specialist area which you would like covered, i.e. studio based portrait photography, I will certainly consider it. I have large amounts of photographic equipment including studio lighting, backdrops etc.
Some of the topics covered are:
I offer one-to-one sessions but they can also be done in pairs or maybe with a couple of friends, they can be more fun and relaxed that way. I'm open to suggestion based on your individual needs. I am also open to where the sessions take place, they can be at your home or business (within a specified travel distance of 15 miles) or indeed on location. Often a "classroom" session is a good idea initially so that we can talk about the theories of photography and how and why your camera works, we can then put those theories into practice in a practical session. Sessions are very relaxed and informal and are lead by the learners needs, not mine. There is no fixed agenda, we do things at your pace, simple as that. I insist that the sessions are all day, this way it's a "crash course", rather than coming back 3 or 4 times, forgetting things in between. From previous experience, all day sessions work extremely well, there is LOTS to learn about photography and it gives you a chance to ask as many questions as you'd like, without time constraints. We'll break for lunch and cups of coffee are certainly encouraged!
For businesses, I am happy to train members of your team on how to use a camera, set up lighting etc. if for instance you wish to be "self-sufficient" with your photography needs, perhaps you're setting up a small studio so that you can do everything in-house to streamline your website photography? Get in touch to discuss your ideas and requirements and hopefully we'll get together soon.
Sessions are all day and cost from £225 for one to one or just £285 for up to 3 learners and generally last around 6 hours including lunch break.
